The Radiotherapy department have treated their first patient using online-adaptive radiotherapy.
This was the result of a large multidisciplinary team effort.
This improves upon traditional radiotherapy by generating a new treatment plan for each day of the treatment, allowing the internal anatomy to be treated no matter if it has moved since the first patient appointment.
The Varian Ethos system used AI to auto-segment internal organs and the automated optimisation engine produces plans in a fraction of the time of the current systems in use.
